    Default A Request

Can posters please refrain from using abusive language - ie swear words.

I am no angel but I will not lower myself to use abusive language on an openly accessible internet forum where I know that people from all walks of life are able to read it, including children.

I know that we have a few minors who are regulars on this forum and the example set for them is pretty poor. There are many ways of experessing yourself without resorting to using common swear words.

It brings the forum down to a trashy level.

So, in respect of those who don't like to read such language and respect for those who are minors, I ask that people refrain from using such language.

    Thanks.

Morgan, are you able to have these words automatically *bleeped* out like I have seen on other forums?

    An optimist sees the glass as half full;
A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.

Actually, maybe this would be best placed in the help forum where Morgan will more likely see it???

I agree, especially when you see it in every second post, it does make this place look 'trashy' . I tried to make people aware of this in my disastrous thread 'What's happened to our friendly forum' . It did not change a thing though.

I think that Anne has a point here guys.

Maybe from now on if we are 'pee'd off' we should perhaps refrain from saying so and just use heaps of 'emotion thingys' or just not post anything at all!

Why not start a vent thread, where potty mouths can let loose. Those who might be offended need not go there.

Because minors can still access that thread and others who are not aware of the word that may be used may indavertently open the thread and be offended.

Why do people need to swear on the forum? Is there soemthing wrong with expressing themselves in a more non-offensive way?

I swear, as I said, I am no angel but I don't think a public forum is the appropriate place for vulgar language.

Sure...swearing is bad! I have been guilty!

But I think hurtful, nasty & degrading posts are just as bad. You can get over a *bleep* word in a post...but it is much harder with a nasty post. I think it leaves a bigger "mark" than a swear word.

I actually appreciate a forum where the word bitch is not bleeped out, where I can say I am pissed off. It is up to parents to censure net time or what they are viewing, not to give open slather on forums where most members are adults who yes, sometimes swear.
Do programs like net nanny take care of this?

Any posts made under the name of Di_dee1 one can be used by anyone as I do not give a rats.
