    Default Excitement

I have decided to stay up here another year but I needed to find a new place to live. Where I currently am - the landlord is a total tool. In 2 years I have had 2 broken security doors, a bath that hasn't worked, cracked walls, cracked floors, various lights that haven't worked and a tv arial that was falling apart. The only thing that was fixed was the arial and that was done 2 weeks ago.

I stayed here because it is secure and close to work - however, I have a car now and can afford to live further away. I have only moved 10 minutes drive, but I will be in a court, with one side to the walking path which is very quiet.

It has a nice sized yard but what sealed the deal was a fully enclosed double carport that was about 15 degrees cooler than outside. It will be ideal for the birds AND it means Rufus can be put there on hot days and rainy days when I am at work. I will have beds etc for him but there is no need for him to have free run of the house if I have him in an area that is suitable contained and climate controlled.

I dont get the keys til next month, but I am already packing lol

Good news for you Occy. Much better place, obviously.

Must admit, when first reading your post I wondered why you had to go and live in court!

    (Missed the 'a') LOL.

    Yep, would do.

I loath irresponsible landlords who shirk their duties.

I am really happy for you! It is pretty bad living in a place where you can't get things fixed etc

I had a very enthusiastic landlord.

Basically he was retired and his wife didn't want him at home so he'd come round to my place. I banned him when he sprayed my pot plants with weed killer despite me screaming at him to stop. And he left the bees in the walls, I had to get the pest man to get rid of them (I was too scared of him doing a home job - bearing in mind he can't read or write). He also failed to fix the leaking roof, but the garden - he was slowly reducing to a desert with all the weed killer. Very dilligent out there. Sigh.

I decided it was time to leave when they tried to put the rent up to "market rate" ie in line with places that had modern kitchens and bathrooms, and sound roofs.

Sounds a much better option all around & you get to keep your birds?? Was up in your town a few months ago, we had lunch at Red Rooster, first and last time, tasted like shit and certainly couldnt live on it. Will have to find somewhere else next time we come up.
    Happy packing Occy.

I can have all my animals - the birds are only an issue if I go home. The great thing about this place is that the birds can be outside in the carport - fully sheltered - they will come in when it is cold, but otherwise, they prefer being outside. It also means I can use the floor cleaning water to clean under the cages and use the hose to clean the cages out - finally - a cleaning regime that works!

Red Rooster is gross at any time - there are heaps of places on High St - noodles, subway, cafes - try the grove next time - next to the water tower.

If you're coming off the fwy you keep going straight and then at the end of the st turn right - that is the main st. If you have been to red rooster you have been on the main st as it is just over the train tracks lol
