Hmm, Im confused as to why it is not legal to get your tubes tied. Men have their whats-its (forgot what its called officially) tied legally, why not women?

In all seriousness, back in Qld husband and I went through a nightmare of a battle trying to find a doctor/surgeon - ANY doctor/surgeon to perform the operation on me. I had to be over 30 or 35 or something before they would consider it.

Problem is, I had a form of cancer at the time, and medically i really wanted my tubes tied. In the end, my husband had a vesectomy, as that was the ONLY option left to me because of the cancer.

It seems a major hurdle to get it done under a certain age. Unless...see comment above.

a vasectomy is far more readily reversible than a tubal ligation

I also believe the clip method of tying tubes can lead to ectopic pregnancies. Why don't you just use a condom and the pill if you're so darn committed.
