Just received a lovely Xmas song from my son via text -- Charging thru the snow, in a V8 wonder sled, crashing thru the trees cos i'm off me fuc**** head. Been smokin Billys too, a dozen beers or more, I'm heading to the red light zone to get my-self a whore!
Oh Jingle Bells, jingle bells, Santas smokin weed, Mrs. Claus is on the floor she's over dosed on speed, Blitzen;s fu**ed, the elves are too, they're peaking off their heads, and if Rudolf snorts another line the prick'll wind up dead!
    Merry Christmas All.

Well that was a crap Christmas. We have a fight about the finances & him spending unnecessary money on food we could have done without especially as he doesn't have a job ATM. He took the food & some grog & spent the day with his sister. I had week old roast lamb on a sandwich for lunch. I would have been miserable without my fur kids.

Oh, GSD, I am so sorry. Christmas can be such a sad, lonely and tense time for many. I send love and hugs.

Oh well. Wadda ya gonna do ?? He's always been pretty irresponsible when it comes to the finances as it turns out. I've been too sick over the last 10 years to be involved, so I just trusted him to budget & pay the bills. He just kept borrowing more money & we nearly lost the house this time last year. And it's in my name only as I already owned it (with the bank) when we got together. It was enough of a jolt for me to "snap to", get on board with how much debt we had, get a plan together & start paying things off. I've really turned us around in the last 12 months to where we could breathe a little easier that we wouldn't lose the house & I paid off a huge loan he took out for Zena's hospital stay.

Sure he got a payout when he just got retrenched, but without any income other than what the treats pull, I'm not prepared to spend a single cent on stuff that we could do without. He felt a "bit of a splurge" at Christmas time was perfectly reasonable. I got kicked out of home when I was 15. When you have to fill up on water when you're hungry so you can pay your rent, you learn what's a "need" or a "want" pretty quickly. He's always had a roof over his head & food in his stomach.

What started it yesterday was him staying "What are you worried about ? I believe I'll get a job in the NY. Just relax. It's only money." I said "Yeah & I believe I'll be 8 stone again & will win Tattslotto. Just because you believe something, doesn't mean it will happen when you think it will." And it went from there ...

My hubby has always had what he needs too. Told me we were broke with stuff that was going on a few years ago, yea right. We had an overdraft in place for years with the farm, just been very lucky we never had to use it. We did for a while but to him, because we were in the red was "broke" sheesh. He has never, like you and Me GSD, had to do what you and I did just to make ends meet, and they didn't at times. When I was "between" husbands I missed meals to feed my sons, my mother bought their shoes. He will never know the true meaning of broke. I think it strengthens us and gets our priorities in proper place when we have been, or are going through it (though it is so very hard at the time. I usually hate to take sides, but, hey babe, I am totally with you on this one.

Thanks Di. So much of what you've said is true. It's just disrespectful that he would drag me down with him & I won't allow it for the sake of my own peace of mind, a roof over my fur kid's heads & food in their stomachs at every meal time. They mean the world to me as they give me so much more in life than I ever give them. Spirit was especially beautiful with me yesterday, constantly checking on me while I worked & giving me kisses whenever I turned my face towards her.

Spending 40 bucks on seafood (when I had already told him "NO !!!") when we had ham & a turkey roll was just wasteful in our current situation in my opinion ....
