DA ... I thought you might be just a "wee bit" pleased with how it all went today given how much support you've "loved me despite myself" with over these Summer months on just this issue alone despite your own situation.

You know ... getting my arse up to the plate just to actually front up at dog club today. You're a real trooper mate.

Yes ... looking at that screaming match going on in the club rooms after classes today with that male dog handler & the head instructor .... Di was DEFINITELY right about staying calm, formulating a factual letter & just submitting it for "digestion & consideration".

I've learnt a lot of things over the last few months ....

Just want to say a big "thank you" to DA & Di. Trust me ... right now ... I think I may have got in a lot more sh!t without you guys & your excellent advice & support.

I'll keep you posted about my progress with Spirit's training if you like. Good working dogs like Spirit don't come along very often. At this stage it looks like little Spirit & I will be left alone to just get on with things, train to our maximum potential & then step into a trialling ring in the not too distant future. Anyway ... that's the plan at this stage .....

I'm amazed at what I hear about some of the obedience clubs out there.

As an instructor I try to treat all the members with respect, even those newbies that are just not natural dog handlers and may never be.

The way I see it they are there and are trying, if nothing else their dog is getting good social skills.

I often say to my class at about week 4 that "nice instructor Mac has gone today and the nasty one is in and I'm going to get tough on you all". I do pick them up on the things that they are doing wrong, but I've always believed there are two ways of saying things. I also tell them profusely when they've nailed something right.

I'm astounded by the stories I hear, our club and chief instructor would not tolerate it.

The thing is "M&C" ... no one talks about this sort of stuff. People rock up to dog club, line up for "instruction" and unless someone goes out on a limb & actually makes a complaint, nothing gets done. And even when they do lodge a complaint, the're treated like they have "something wrong" with them.

Sorry matey. I'm sure you're doing a fantastic job as a trainer and I take my hat off to you. It would appear the people at my club need to "wake up" to themselves.

In defense of the instructors I will say that at "community" clubs the instructors are all volunteers. Some are better than other I'll grant you and a lot depends on the chief instructor.

We're lucky to have a good CI.

Well not the best night, which is probably obvious to all.

Why are there no additional moderators here?

Last time there were mods members got upset because they thought the mods would use their personal vendettas to ban people, so Morgan is turned off the whole thing.

It's a shame though, he could just get members over a certain post count who have been here say 6 plus months, to nominate some mods and then set up a poll.
