I do enjoy gardening, when I get the time and then I spend a lot of time avoiding the green ants. Boy their bites sting and they always migrate to the garden bed I'm working in. At least I'm getting over my phobia of beetles and cockroaches, I don't have to run and have a shower everytime one crawls on me now. I just wish the ground spiders would make their presence known before I put my hands in the dirt. I don't mind them being there I just don't want them on me. And if there's a reptile or frog or bird about there will be no work done cos I'm watching them and don't want to scare them away. So not much gets done but it feels so good to be outside.

i recon hydro is the way to go, its so quick, and no digging or watering required, just top up the main tank/ tub of water and use the right nutrients once a week or so, and beautiful vegies!! may incorperate aquaponics this time, however its never gona be a closed cylce so im not sure about it, but will use the water from my weekly tropical community tank water changes.

Hmm, Have a few old bathtubs around the yard too (Family of builders/carpenters-- hmm have the PVC piping and pond pump too!) But musnt go over board just yet (as I keep reminding myself)

Old bath tubs make great beds, old cement laundry troughs too.
I don't dig too much too stony, I just build up a bed with compost, lawn clippings, cow or chook manure, and paper in layers, the way my dad taught me. A hand ful of blood and bone tossed in now and then doesn't hurt either. Not enough lawn clippings ask your neighbours, or buy some mulch hay.

anyway I found this site brilliant in setting out no dig gardens etc.

Yeah i think its brilliant, it takes a few months for the growing medium to settle with the bacteria etc, then you put your plants in the growing beds and off it goes.

As little or as big as you want its really easy to expand just add another pipe tray and gravel.

As of today (Well yesterday evening really) I have a compost bin! WHOO!

& I asked OH if i could have a bathtub last night which he quickly before i even finished my sentence said NO! I said "AWWW, you didnt even ask what i want it for!"

    OH- "Ok, What?"
ME- "To plant my cucumbers in of course! "
OH- "What! and no. You garden is going to look like a little old ethnic ladys garden soon, with all the bathtubs and rusty bails (Laughs harder)"
ME- "Yeah Ok, so Ill just take the small one then yeah?"
    OH- "No"
ME- "ok, thanks hun, will need some help to move it on the weekend though"
    OH- "No"
ME- "We will do that before we do the fencing cause will be to hard to get in otherwise"
    OH- *sigh*

Yeah thats right, YOU CANT WIN HONEY!
