Well it looks like this is becoming the horse thread soooo....
This is my first horse Marlie. She was a 5 year old off the track thoroughbred. Because she wasn't good enough for racing, she was sold for only $400 to a very dodgy man who bought her for his daughter who was down during the holidays. This guy had no idea about horses, just you them in a paddock with a rug. All year round...
Anyway, every day we would drive past her paddock and she would always be wearing a big thick doona rug(too be precise, a Weatherbeeta rug, the same as Lorens but horse version ). Anyway, one day we decided to stop off at the paddock and take a look under the rug.
She was in a disgusting state. Horribly thin and covered in rain scald(when they sweat or get wet but the moisture doesnt or cant dry scabs get created)
So anyway, we went and talked to the people who owned the property(who werent paying any attention to the horse) and they gave us the number of the owner. Called him up and basicly said 'give us your horse or we're calling the RSPCA'. He was more than happy to get rid of her!
Rescued in the middle of Winter, and healthy by the middle of Summer. 6 months worth of work.

Sorry for the terrible quality of the photos and yes, it is the same horse

Unfortunately I don't have her anymore.
She was too green and I didn't have the time to do any proper training with her. I sold her to a friend, who then moved and had to sell her again. I don't know what happened to her after that. I really hope she found a forever home. 5 homes in her 6 years isn't fair at all. I really regret selling her now.

Aww don't be so hard on yourself. You obviously felt you couldn't devote the time she needed. It must be hard though not knowing what happens to pets you have to find a new home for...
