    Ahhh yes, I lied, I do know Phar Lap and was it a horse named Reckless that had an old trainer and a great lot of human interest around him? Others, nope, couldn't tell you last year's winner. lol.

    Just wanted to add that Changingoftheguard,the Irish horse,has been scratched by vets this morning.

    I don't even bother...lol. I work at night...so I don't have a sweepstakes to take part in. I used to be a strapper for a trainer at EagleFarm racetrack...yet I know nothing about racing or how to pick a winner

    I'm with you Ozeymum, I also work nights and miss out on the sweeps and I don't know how to pick a winner....

    I can't believe it! I missed it!
    I think I mentioned before how mum used to come over to my sister's place next door in her gardening hat for it. She died in March. This year De and I put on our respective clapped out hats at 3pm. I went and fed birds and dog, sat down and put on the TV only to see the jockey doing his victory walk. I rang and told her and she said she only made it with a couple of minutes to spare as she too thought it was about 20 past 3. ...note to self for next year, look up the time....

    We were going to watch it in our respective states. She had a chair, mum's hat and a rose on it and a glass of wine in her empty spot.
