    Angry Neighbours

We have new neighbours... Moved in last weekend... The guys who lived in there before were really nice and we had the occasional beer in their or our backyard... We haven't really met the new ones yet (I haven't even seen the wife and lil girl...) However, they put their telli on the wall directly behind our sofa and now when they watch telli (which is pretty much 24/7) we can hear every single word. This morning it drives me crazy! It is Sunday morning!
Ok, I should just go ever there and let them know. But not know, I need to be a bit calmer and wanted to wait until they moved in and unpacked everything...

ok, steam is off now and rant is over

I gather you are in a duplex. So are we. I was terrified someone noisy would buy next door when our nice neighbours decided to sell. Fortunately the new neighours are just as nice as the old ones.

We simply introduced ourselves and our dogs to the new people and I casually said: "Please let us know if we play our music too loud." And they said: "Please let us know if we are too noisy." Problem solved.

You new neighbours may not realise how noisy their TV is.

Introduce yourself and casually mention your music or TV just as I did. If the conversation continues in a friendly fashion you can mention how noisy their TV was this morning in a friendly, half joking sort of way. Then hopefully you can work out a compromise and still remain on good terms.

    Good luck.

Thanks DH! That is exactly what we are planning to do. Just wanted to wait until they are settled in, unpacked etc...
TV is off by the way now

I keep thinking..."hang a big wall rug on the wall where they have their tv".
It'll block out some noise..but they too need to be considerate and turn it down.

I used to live in an estate where the houses may aswell have been joined together...my neighbours where: the mum, an opera singer!!!!, the son, a drum player!!! the Daughter, a clarinette (sp??) player....OMG, get some acerage!!!! grrrrrrrrrrr

I know what you mean. In Glasgow we lived in one of these old tenament houses... ground floor... The two girls above us were like elephants when walking around and one of them started learning playing the violin and usually practiced not before 10pm...

Lets hope the new ones are not into playing any instruments...

My neighbours are real snobs. It's really sad. I'm ready to move. Getting our house valued tomorrow actually.
My poor mum lives in a unit that has 7 car parks in front of her bedroom window. People come and go all night, talk, throw rubbish everywhwere
Once we asked one neighbour nicely if he could park in the next spot over so she doesn't get the lights in her window at night, lets just say it didn't go down well.
Hope yours turn out to be nice Zig
