You poor thing. Hope you feel better soon.

My naturapath always said take as much vitamin C as your body can cope with without giving you the runs. You work up to the higher doses gradually. I was on 10,000mg a day after a white tail spider bite. Go for the CalC powder (available from health food shops) as it is gentler on the system.

Garlic oil capsules (I use Blackmores) are great for coughs and chest infections.

You can't beat the good old fashioned hot lemon and honey drink. If you add a good slug of Scotch you'll feel great and being ill won't bother you at all.

Get drunk every day for a week and see how you goLOL-joking. Ummmm...pretty much what others said; vitC, lemon+honey, steam...all I can add is Vicks chest rub and Vicks nasal inhaler .
Hope you're feeling yourself again really soon Chop

I agree with what everyone else has suggested, also a hot steamy shower to help ease the congestion of nose, chest etc, peppermint tea is also good for helping ease the sore throat...you can also get you oh to give you a nice warm body massage-to help the ease the aching body muscles
Hope you feel well again soon

Hugs Chop... I've had a flu thing on and off for weeks and am sympathetic. I'm well over it.

If you get the powdered vitamin C it is much more effective than the chewy tabs. 1 teaspoon is the equivalent of 5 1000mg tablets. We get sodium ascorbate, which is pretty close to tasteless and is great to have in juice. I can only taste it if I accidentally tip in way too much, and the drink tastes ever so slightly saline... Great for kids - any excess is excreted so there's no worries about too much.

Echinacea or garlic and horseradish tablets are another one to try. I give my kids Sustagen when they are slow to get over something like this, great for vitamins and minerals etc...

You know the vomiting with the flu is probably swine flu... With bad coughing....

I just want to warn people about the dangers of taking Echinacea or Royal Jelly products if your an "Asthmatic"..

I was at my local chemist buying natural based cold / flu meds for my hubby, i picked up a bottle of Echinacea-went to counter to pay & the pharmacists
(whom knows my family medical history etc) asked which family member it was for- i told him its for my hubby & OMG he yelled at me, saying that Echinacea & Royal Jelly products can cause very server asthma attacks even death in asthmatics - my hubby & teen daughter are Asthmatics... so no more of those products in my house

I'm so grateful that i had gone to the pharmacist that knows my family medical history, hate to even think of the consequences if my hubby or daughter had taken / swallowed Echinacea or Royal Jelly products.

Mags, a week you reckon hey *ponders but then the image of what the house would look like after a week of me being effectively on strike threw it off mighty quick*
