My dog has worked out the best way to avoid damage when she can't avoid a crash tackle is to lie as flat as she can on the ground.

I'm thinking that's a good response when ridge backs or great danes are doing zoomies. Never seen newfies zoom but I think I'd be a pancake too.

Labs aren't much fun if they crash tackle you but if you see them coming you can protect your knees.

One time a lab crash tackled me when I was still wearing my hockey boots, shin and knee pads. I didn't feel anything and lab zoomed a bit further away after that.

My old dog, who wasn't very heavy but very fast, once crashed right into the back of my knees. So my legs automatically buckled and down I went.

She only crashed into me twice. But she thought it was extremely funny to scare me by running at me full speed and then swerve at the last minute. I swear she always had a grin on her face after she did that and managed to make me panic. It took me years to trust that she would avoid me and spoil her fun.
