    Default Very Sad Today

Today my partner, his parent. And I went to the beach with the dogs.
We had 3 pug like dogs and 2 labs with us.
my partner had the two girls on leads when Lizzie my pug got out of her collar. In a blink of an eye a German sheperd is attacking her and she isn't barking she is screaming. My dog is thrown into the air, when she lands I cover over her and she bites me, over and over.

My dog has never bitten me, but I put up with it because I'm worried.
In few seconds there is blood everywhere, half her tail is just exposed bone.

I rush my dog to the vet. Anyway we are putting pressure on the tail, and we bandage it up. The hard part is watching her as she keeps trying to rip thebandage off making the wound reopen and bleed.

She's booked in for surgery Monday to cut off the tail. Does anyone know of a way to maybe save her tail?

At the momment I'm just keeping her bandages clean, and her well fed with lots of water. I wish she could have pain meds but she has issues withthe pancreas and is not allowed any.

I understand that she is very very lucky. She may have lost her tail, but not her life thank goddness.

    Oh cripes, I'm sorry!

I hope you have notified authorities about this and they are taking action with the owner of the GSD. This is horrific. This makes me cry, not only for the hell your dog and your family are now going through, but for seeing my beloved breed destroyed in the hands of ppl who should NEVER have them.

If the vet feels the best option is to sever the tail, i would go with that one.

Once again, I'm so sorry this has happened. My heart goes out to you.

I am so sorry. This is horrible and I too would be going by what the vet says. Can you photograph the injuries and add it to a report re the GSD?

I don't mean to push at such a bad time for you OP, but this MUST be reported. Your dog is lucky to be alive. This must be taken further to ensure it never happens again. Your dog is very lucky to have not lost it's life, but the next one may not be so lucky. This GSD can not be allowed a next time!

They ran pretty fast the owners. They were just a two teenage kids. But to be honest the dog was not a pet dog and should not have been at the beach.

What if it was a child? This dog looked like it was guard dog and was super aggressive.

They had a huge metal professional muzzle that should of been on the dog. So that made me think it was a guard dog that kids wanted to take to the beach.

It just happens so quick, and you can only hope that the owners and other pet owners of really big dogs train or take steps to ensure they don't hurt people or dogs when they go out.

Thankyou for your support. Me and Lizzie will be resting, eating and sleeping a lot until she gets better :P

That dog should not be anywhere in public, little own with two kids. I'm just shocked and disgusted.

I'm so so sorry. Keep us updated won't you, please? I hope your Lizzie gets over this trauma okay.

I wish I could report, but my dog ran off the lead at the time of the attack. And the sheperd didn't like anyone near the owners and came running.

I think she will look cuter with a stubby tail. I would love her regaurdless I think, I know

I hope Lizzie recovers from the attack soon, and if the vet is sure the tail is to go, best to go with that.
I hope you too get over this horrible experience.
Report anyway, even though the kids took off pretty quick.
Maybe they go there often, or it maybe an already registered "Dangerous Dog" and that is why they had the wire muzzel.
