Thread: Very Sad Today

Hugs to you and Lizzie. It certainly sounds like the tail needs to go. It is better than trying to save it and risking infection. This sort of injury is called "degloving" which basically is as it sounds, the skin is pulled off like a glove. There could be other damage to muscle and bone as well and it is nice and safe to take the tail off. She will feel much better once it's gone and will cheer up quickly.

You can report the matter to your local police. If you provide details of when, where etc and a description of the dog and it's handlers they can try and find out who it was. It is important that you let them know in case this dog has done it before. In any case it sounds likely to do this again so it's vital that every attempt is made to find it and protect other people and dogs from this sort of behaviour.

Oh my, that is horrible! Pugs are such gorgeous dogs.
Please make sure that you inform the police etc about this. We don't want it happening to any other dogs.

    Best of luck!

I'm so sorry this happened for Lizzie, and you.

Please report this to the police, the council, etc - it could happen again, or indeed, Lizzie may not be the first. Next time it could kill the other dog, or seriously injure a child. The authorities need to be alerted to the extreme idiots in your area!

I hope everything goes well with the surgery

Hi everyone =') thankyou for your kind words and support.

Lizzie is a little spoilt, and last night my partner an i were so worried about hurting her tail we let her take up most of our bed. She slept like a baby, I on the other hand woke up hourly to cheek her bandages.

Lizzie was dropped off at the vet this morning, she has been in high spirits =)
I can't wait to see her again tonight, so i can make her some nice boiled chicken. (she's not allowed pain meds so she may be a little moddy when she returns)

we are going ahead with cutting the tail, maybe they can save most? just have to wait.
