Beautiful pair. We have a couple next door that I have been training. They are beautiful natured dogs but are escape artists, something common to the breed.

Their dogs are a few years old and they have just bought the specially designed scooters and harnesses to give them extra exercise, walking the neighbourhood and running on a couple of acres was not enough for these two.

A friend has both whippets and SH, breeds and shows, and she has said that the breed is very strong (I don't mean this in a strength aspect), mainly due to the amount of quality imports brought in. Do you agree with this?

The breed is strong, but i wouldn't say their hard to handle, although before getting one i recommend doing a lot of research! I wouldn't say their escape artists.. Personally i've never had a problem nor have our breeder (where we got them from) with them being escape artists.

Sorry I used the term strong as in their confirmation is very correct (strong) etc across the board.

I did a lot of research before taking on the training of next doors, contacted SH Rescue etc and spoke to several breeders who told me their urge to roam is inherit and their build and athleticism means they are capable of getting out of yards with six foot fencing.

You are obviously giving them what they need, next door needed to give them something extra which is why I got them into the Scooter and harness work and it's worked a treat.

    Sorry i mis understood.
Yes i do agree their confirmation is very correct! Unlike many other breeds how over the years they've changed dramatically (GSD's, Bull dogs etc).

I guess i am not overally fussed with the fact they can jump 6 foot fences etc because i give my dogs what they need as you wrote!, I walk them, train them, on weekends we go to the dog park, they had dog training (puppy pre school) for interaction etc, i do my own training now though! And dog park is for off lead training (fenced park) and interaction! They also go to Dog sled race days for experience for when they are ready, which they are not ready yet. They are always given the very best!
