Even vets aren't sure and don't dare play guessing games with clients unless they know them well IME.

I have very little doubt of what she is crossed with, but that is neither here nor there.

I have seen many cases where a breeder (I use the word loosely) owns both the sire and dam. And yes, the breeder believes that the dam mated with the sire, until the puppies are born and it becomes blatently obvious that some other sire got in there (so to speak. )

I honestly think this may have been the case here. Some 'breeders' even have so little knowledge and experience, they can't even tell the difference; others have an inkling but prefer not to accept their suspicions.

As long as you are content with your purchase and your puppy ShadowStaff, there isn't an issue about it for you. However, many ppl out there do have a problem with unethical selling as they spend a good amount of dollars purchasing what they believe is a purebred dog, only to later find out they've inadvertently been duped, unintentionally - or not.

Hey...hang on a minute...lets try and turn this around for a second.

Lets say you had spent a lot of money on acquiring a pure bred...lets say GSD for arguments sake. You are very passionate about your breed on a lot of levels...having spent hours and hours researching it etc.

Here I enter...tell you I have a pure bred GSD etc etc...that I was shown the parents...

What would you do...honestly...what would you do? I am pretty sure you would have done the same...told me...sorry, but the puppy is NOT a pure GSD...no matter what you were told.

Actually...it is very important to know what breed you have there! All breeds come with either the same or different inherited diseases. Take SBT's for instance...they can suffer from L2-HGA and HC. L2-HGA is a devastating neurological disorder that registered ethical breeders are eliminating in their breeding stock!

Sure this is a pure and crossbreed's forum, but that doesn't mean the members will just sit back and say...good on ya for buying a puppy from a BYB or Puppy mill. It is a part of the pet industry that is devastating on the bitches (which are kept constantly lactating and pregnant) and pumping out puppies like it was a freaking factory and "disposed" off when no longer needed! It is devastating for the puppies...they lack socialisation...are sick (as you know) and are raised the first 8 weeks with minimal human contact and love...kept in filty kennels...should I go on?!?

I don't care if you get narky with me...I'm a big girl...I can handle it!

Sure...you puppy has a good home and it is obvious you are trying to justify your purchase to yourself. The facts are...your puppy was riddled with worms...she was sick and lost weight...she weighs less than half of what a purebred SBT petite little girl weighed...her head and body composition is wrong for an SBT!

You can get all defensive and say...well, nobody asked ME what I thought and I will say...well, you didn't offer that information either! After my second post you could have said...you know...I can see what you are saying and I don't believe either Neyla is pure and VOILA...this arguement would have been laid to rest.

But what I am hearing from you is....defensive and offensive comments towards members here who actually know "a bit" about the breed you are proclaiming Neyla is!

So...instead of getting snippy...maybe, just maybe you would have been better off taking a deep breath and thought...well bugga me...they might just be right!

Do I hate BYB and Puppy mills....well, HELL YES! I hate those bastards with a passion! I hate the way they treat their animals and believe we should round them up and treat them the same way they treat their animals! angry.jpg

IMO the highlighted part says it all. At no stage has any member here insulted you personally at any stage from what I can depict. But I feel you have made some rude comments. I've just looked past it as I realise you are angry. What makes me annoyed is that this IS a public forum. It is apparently quite okay for you to make any comment you wish to us, but not okay for us to comment? That is hardly fair.

    Please consider Cleasanata's post above.

Then of course there are the poor/bad examples of the breed that get bred from and then the next generation etc etc. Before the unsuspecting public knows it they are no longer buying a dog that represents the breed at all.

Then throw in the people who want to have a litter or two because they have a dog and a bitch, the kids want to see the wonders of birth, oh, both dogs have lovely natures etc etc. Again both these dogs are poor examples of the breed. Do they go on to have many many litters, in a lot of cases no, it turned out to be hard and very expensive work.

If you take the above and think three or four generations down the track you often can get dogs that don't look like their "standard" at all.

I don't know if this was the case with your puppy or not as I don't know the SBT well enough to comment, it's just another scenario that I' throwing out there.

I'm glad your puppy has a good home now. She deserves it.

I can see everyones point of view and I hope you will as well ShadowStaff.

Neyla is very cute regardless of her breed, I am glad she is on the mend.
