I have just purchased a cattle dog puppy. 8 weeks, female, blue and totally gorgeous! Had a male for 12 years who died last December from old age :-( Grew up with parents who bred german shepherds and when I got married my husband wanted a cattle dog. Awesome pets!

Just new to this site and I have been looking for a Australian Cattle Dog topic. I know this is an older topic but I'd thought I'd join in

I was a Red Cattle Dog owner. I had my mate from 8 weeks old, he looked very similar to the one in the photos on the first page. But unfortunatley in December 2012 I had to get him put to sleep due to a tiger snake bite at only 2 years old .

But I agree that they a awesome breed! I love them to bits. They are big hearted and eager to please. Protective of there owners too!
When I am one day ready to get another dog I will be getting a Australian Cattle Dog again for sure

I do have a blue cattle dog, use to breed cattle dogs long way back.
My boy has been desexed bout 5 year ago and is the smartest dog anyone knows.
He lives in our dam and is a very sly dog. He is one of the ones that does need to be watched
    if entering our property.
If we are not home he will take your back bumper bar off your car just to let you know he is in charge.
Would hurt a fly when we are home, but when we are out look out.
He seriously is the best dog we have ever owned.
Low maintenance, well behaved and just an awesome all round dog.

He looks the same as Axle but has the full perfect black mask.

Yes agree with the low maintenance.
They really are the strong silent type.
I have not had any that were noisy or barkers even the rescues.
All they ask is for some food and to be near you.
I never had to "train" our boys, they learnt just by listening and watching.
We had no fences either and they never went wandering as looking after the family
    was no.1 priority for them.

G'day, great to see another cattle dog fan!

i have had cattle dog's in all sorts of situations like working, hunting as domestic pets and it constantly amazes me how versatile they are.
