seems like everyone's well conditioned in your house. Do you see how strong that pattern now is with Bernie?

So now I would also suggest having a command to not allow him up on the trailer. If he jumps up just no, down, outside the garage while you work. Break that habit even further.

One thing I would not allow him to do is keep pacing and running if you can, command him to go outside or just go away if he starts getting pushy. Conversely getting him to go to his place like a mat near the car while you're doing things around it too so he can watch without thinking he ALWAYS has to get involved.

phew behavioral work is hard over the internet :P

I totally agree, i do this with human clients. I get emails from clients, responses take a lot of explaining!

today, i'll have him in a down stay, whilst i load/unload trailer, i can open garage door etc. I'll work out the hierarchy of stimulus, and desensitize him.
But at some point, we will be getting to him on the trailer, and the biggest cue of all, MOVEMENT!
what then? im going to be in drivers seat. He's on back of trailer.

Remote control bucket of water is what i need i reckon.

why dont you put him on the trailer and get someone else to start the car, just roll it back and forth while you're standing next to him. If he starts screaming have the car stop, wait till he settles then start rolling again. Reward heavily when he's quiet. It's a hard thing to break when they're that far into the habit, an e-collar with a remote may be another option to look at if retraining is not working well.
