Default Been ' Lurking' long enough - time to say Hi !

    Hi All,

I thought I had better 'do the intro myself to everyone'. I have been owned, loved and trained by GSPs for a long long time. My latest one (5th one) is Riley and the photo of him below is when he first arrived home when he was 2 years old. He was a rescue - but as he has been here now 3 years - all his bad habits can only be put down to my care and training !

    Depends what you mean !

Bad habits - yeah some I can live with - but - but - yes - love him to bits !

Eating mulberries and scaring 'the what evers out of me' - because of what came out of his back end !
Destroying 3 pawpaw trees - because the fruit was not ripening quickly enough for the 'pup'.
Strawberries - haven't seen a ripe strawberry for quite a looong time !
Tomato plants - well I have plenty of them around the place - but a sad lacking of the actual tomatoes - but everyone knows that what goes in one end - you know what I mean ! So someday - maybe I can beat him to the tomatoes !

Yes, he has a very cute face - but that is only to lull you into a false sense of security - they really only mature - who knows !

to the forum! Cute little boy you have there

I know what you mean about the tomatoes, Bella loves them! Lucky we don't eat them so she gets them all!

I think the scariest thing about GSPs is the amount of exercise they can do without getting the least bit tired. We used to live with one that thought that a day trip to visit old friends about 50km south of where we lived was "no big deal". And she'd take herself for a quiet jog all the way there. ARRGGHHH!!!!

She ended up being re-homed with a family that had pre-school aged children so there was someone home all day with her. She liked that better.

Welcome and I hope your GSP is never that naughty.

Thank you for all the nice comments and hellos !

^^^ Yes, I can understand how frustrating it can be to have a wanderer - but - I do not think that only GSPs are guilty of this !

A lot of people I have known who have owned GSPs, have a big party for their 'pup's 1st B'day'. It is a very very special celebration - 1. that said pup actually made it to 1 yr old alive and well, and 2. the owner is still reasonably sane.

Do any other forum members own GSPs ?
