Default introducing my handsome mutts! and hi from SA :)

Well I have been a bit of a stalker on these threads for a little while now because there seems to be a lot of very helpful information to be found, but I thought that it was time to introduce myself and my dogs.

I live in Adelaide, SA with 1 boyfriend, 2 dogs and 1 cat. The first dog is the most amazing dog in the world (and of course I'm not biased...), he is almost full doberman and bred by a lady who breeds working dogs, but instead of focusing on prey drive, she breeds for pack drive. I always thought the saying, "Dogs are man's best friend" wasn't meant to be taken literally - I've owned dogs all my life and they have all been special, but this guy is truly a partner and means everything to me. He has just celebrated his 2nd birthday He has been very successful in obedience, endurance, agility, tracking, lure coursing and we are now members of a Schutzhund club - if he enjoys it we'll do it.

I was quite happy with just the one dog, but then recently a friend of mine informed me of an accidental litter between a working pure doberman who both herded and guarded animals and a neighbouring very pretty but excellent escape artist - a pure rhodesian ridgeback. I love both breeds and I had always been a fan of the father so we are now the proud owners of a little 11 week old ridgeback x doberman, but have also managed to convince the owner of the ridgeback to have her desexed...

I should probably confess, I think there are a lot of amazing dog breeds out there, but I don't agree 100% with the direction some seem to be taking and so whilst I endeavour to promote responsible and ethical breeding, I am not against cross-breeding, and to date although I spent 3 years looking for a doberman, I was most impressed by a breeder who didn't breed pure.

    Ok hopefully this works.

Here is my boy - sorry about all the photos but my partner's hobby is photography and since I can't stand to have any more photos taken of myself, the burden has fallen onto the dog.

    He's a bit of a poser...

    His pensive look

    Inter-species love

And showing his other side, sorting out that damn 'rabbit' at lure coursing
