I have the biggest soft spot for Ridgebacks.....my last dog was a Ridgy cross. Lovely nature and super fast. Love the picture....looks like fun.

Oh my, how so very sweet, Sammy has the look of incredable wisdom and intelligence and can see in his face that we would be very tuned in to your emotions as you say.
They are adorable.. How did sammy react to the "new dog in town"? By the pic, they seem to be the best of friends.

Oh thank you Yeah Sammy is one of a kind, and not just because he's a mutt. At training last night a couple of people had a bit of a go at me because I so obviously favour Sammy and I know it's not good. It's like I love Zoe the way I've loved my other dogs, she's awesome and she's a great dog. But Sammy is my best friend. Sammy is a dog and I'm a human but we have something shared in common - it's like we're different species but on the same wavelength. My relationship with Sammy is the reason we kind of needed a second dog, my partner is a bit jealous. I had him before I had Sammy but as soon as I met that dog, we clicked. I went to get a female, but Sammy ignored my partner and the breeder and just grabbed me. He followed me to the car when we picked him up on foot, never looked back. Never needed a lead to keep him close - only to keep him away lol.

Sammy accepts me as pack leader. Vasco (the cat in the photos) is mine, Zoe is also mine and he loves and protects everything that is mine. Zoe has been a great addition to the family and she makes Sammy happier. I work 40+ hours per week so that's a lot of time he used to spend alone, but now he has Zoe They have the same energy levels, both strong dominant dogs and have the same play style so they get on like a house on fire.

Wow what a pity I can't get paid to talk of my love for Sammy lol. Sigh now I just miss him more. I need a job where I can bring him to work...
