    Default Greetings to You All

Wow this looks like a happy place for doglovers to meet and share information. I'll give it a burl, so to speak. Can never have too many contacts when rescuing!

I know quite a few of you already from other places. Pleased to meet the rest of you. What to tell you about myself?

I am a fourth generation dog breeder, even though I haven't bred any litters now for several decades! I can be found in the showring handling other people's dogs and on the road transporting rescues about.

I usually have at least one foster here (at the moment I have a high drive young kelpie cross she is almost ready for rehoming ) and often dogs in transit for rescue or to be trained or shown.

Right now my own little permanent pack consists of:

The Boss Cat: DSH RikkiTikkiTavi aged 11. Bosses every dog and me , too!

Senior Puglady: Boots, a black aged 15, been with me about 9 years now since she was retired from showing and maternal duties.

The Personality Pug: Cheddar, aged 4, apricot fawn and my first and only (so far) foster failure.

The Exchange Student: Swank, aged 14 weeks, fawn puglet who is here to be campaigned in Victoria for her breeder. She will be with us for a year or so, thus she is an honorary permanent LOL.

I am in rural Victoria, west of Ballarat. I am very glad to have found this little community!

Thank you! No problems - here are some pointers right now!

    (1) ENJOY!! Win or lose, learn to love showing for the social interaction, try to avoid falling into the trap of joining a clique (mind you, that can be hard if your mentor is in one).

(2)Grow a thick skin - there are some bad sports in every hobby and conformation showing seems to have more than a fair share. If you win a lot, haters are gonna hate, don't let it upset you. If you lose a lot, try to learn why - it's no shame to show a good specimen and be beaten by a better.

(3)Always accept the judges decision, even when the judge is completely wrong! If you don't like their opinion, the correct path to take is never enter under them again (but don't shout this out at ringside ).

Oh dear, this is turning into a trilogy, sorry!
