    Default Hello :)

    Hi folks,

It just occurred to me that I haven't introduced myself yet, so I thought I better get to it!

I'm a 30 year old American gal who moved to Australia back in July (married an Aussie boy). We have two human kids with another one on the way. We also have four ferrets and two puppies. Abby is a great dane x mastiff x ridgeback and she's 6 months old. Our 6 year old gets confused by the three breeds that make up Abby, so she introduces Abby as a "great mastiff." Jethro is a red heeler and is 5 months old.

I'm a jeweller by trade and I'm starting to explore ways to combine my love of animals and jewellery. I'm working on a new blinged out dog tag for Abby at the moment. I also have an idea for a silver pendant that has a photo-realistic etching of a client's dog on it. I'm REALLY excited about this idea, I even want one for myself! I'm still working out the details though. If anyone wants to volunteer pictures of their dogs for me to play with I'd be happy to make their pendant at cost (of materials).

I also enjoy photography, horseback riding, and dancing. Well that's me in a nutshell. I look forward to getting to know you all

    Best wishes,
    Mollie

Welcome..I would be very interested in the "silver pendant that has a photo-realistic etching of a client's dog on it" My only problem i I have newfies/black dogs and i have previously been told they are very difficult, except in outline. Love the name "Great Mastiff", it is just right i think

    Welcome Glitter009

Hope you enjoy Australia. Some of us do love debating a point (I mean me). It's not meant to be personal.

I love the jewellery idea. I often want to get presents for various animal obsessed friends and rellies and a pendant with a critter on it is perfect. I don't get putting bling on the dog, but some people love it. The way my dog plays with some dogs means bling is going to get chewed. And I got given a very heavy diamond studded dog bone thing which had come off some dog collar at our local oval. I think I gave it to someone else who was into that kind of stuff, because I don't get it. I imagine it would have a place if you were doing "doggy dancing" or liked to show dogs.

    Thanks for the welcome guys

@ Newfsie - Yes, it can be a bit more challenging with all black dogs (my rottie x is all black), but it should still be possible. If you want to message/email me some pics I'll play around with it.

@ Hyacinth - I like debating too and don't take it personally. Abby's dog tag with bling is going to be sterling silver with cubic zirconia. I'm sure eventually a few may fall out, but they're really cheap and I think it would look pretty on her. She's pretty dainty and princess like for such a large pup

    Welcome Mollie
Your jewellery sounds great - I have so much respect for jewellers, I did a silversmithing course last year and until then had no idea how much work goes into the tiniest little things! I'm definitely not patient enough for it, haha.
