    Default Gidday from Lyn

    Hi everyone
I'm one of those crazy-about-dogs types (all animals really) so thought I'd better say gidday.

I've got two Border Collies - Oscar a 5 year old black & white male and Saffron (Saffie) an Australian Red 5 month old female.

After around 30 years without being able to have animals (working at sea and travelling) I am making up for lost time! Which, with two BCs in the tropics means getting up at 5am for some serious beach time.

    Hey Troppo

    Welcome

So you don't meet any gigantic reptiles on your beaches?

    Hi and Welcome!
    Your dogs are Gorgeous!
I use to have a Border collie/Springer spaniel named Oscar, and he looked just like your Oscar!

Thanks for the welcome guys. Yes, Hyacinth, big saltwater crocs are a worry and occasionally seen at the beaches I go to (well, all beaches here really). I keep an eye out and fingers crossed. Most of them are just passing through as Darwin Harbour is trapped pretty extensively (around 300 removed this year). More of a worry are the sea wasps, or stingers - very deadly jellyfish. A friend lost his dog to a stinger a few months ago and since then I have taken to carrying a bottle of vinegar on my beach walks. Never worried about it before and thought the long coat of the collies would protect them, but their bare bellies would be vulnerable plus I keep Oscar clipped in the Wet Season.

And thanks maddogdodge - I do call Oscar Gorgeous George sometimes. They are both show ponies and love attention. Funny how they say dogs are like their owners - I'm a borderline recluse with two incredibly sociable dogs!

I've loved the name Saffie ever since the show Absolutely Fabulous.

Gorgeous dogs! It is just an angle that Saffie looks very tiny, is it not?
I love cooking but I love eating even more.

Saffie is only 10 weeks old in that photo I think, she's much bigger now (some more photos in the Border Collie group thread.

Myf, I loved Ab Fab but had forgotten about Saffie in that until after I'd named my girl.
