Default Hi All :)

Hey everybody!
I have just joined the forum after having a read through of other posts. There's some helpful tips and information on here.

A little about me, I have two puppies, Ash is a male kelpie x border collie (although i think he is more kelpie), 22 weeks old. And Spike is a male boxer, 20 weeks old. We got them both as young pups, on the same day, so they have been a bit of a handful! Very energetic and playful, but both are smart lil pups and have learnt the basics of good and bad

My boyfriend has had a dog before, but I have not (I have always been an animal lover though) so this is all exciting for me and I'm always on the lookout to find new things i can do with them.

That's enough from me for now, see you all again soon!

Hi and !
I hope you enjoy your time here...
From reading through some posts though, maybe you've picked up on the fact that we're crazy about photos of dogs? Wanna share?

Welcome! You have quite a lot on your plate for the future....I wonder if you really know how much? My best advise would be get to school asap and then make sure you do 5 mins training every single day with each of them.

Not trying to be mean, just realistic. You have two wild and woolly breeds there of the same age and the same sex with out a huge amount of dog experience.

You can do it, its a HUGE job but you can do it if you dedicate yourselves to the training of these two over the next 12 months.

ETA: Beautiful looking pooches!!

Hi Shar Pei,
thanks for the advice
To tell you the truth we didn't know what we were getting ourselves into when we got our pups, but we soon realised after the first night!

They both did puppy school which started the second weekend we had them. It then closed for the christmas break, but Ash is starting up obedience again this saturday (and I plan to keep him in it for years to come). Ash has already been desexed and spike will be done soon.

We have had to pretty much re organise our whole daily routine for them. We get home from work at 7am (we work nights) then its a trip to the oval or a walk, followed by basic training (separated) with treats. Then breakie And then another trip out in the afternoon.

And you are right, it is a LOT of work! But we love them to death and they are developing into obedient dogs.

A lot of people i speak to (including our parents and family) think we are crazy taking on two highly energetic male dogs. But if and when problems come up, we will deal with them.

Anyway, on a lighter note, i think i may become a regular user of this forum, just had a look though silly photos people have posted, had me laughing out loud
