Thread: Hi

    Thumbs up Hi

    Hi everyone. I'm Petra.

This is my first post. I just found the forum.

I don't have much to say just yet. I'm hoping to get a dog in the not too distant future, I had one when I was growing up but life got in the way a bit for a while and I just didn't have the time to dedicate to a dog.

I hope to stick around and chat but have been known to join forums and then forget about them so I apologise in advance if I do that. I'll bookmark this one and hope I remember to come back.

    Thanks for the welcome.

I haven't settled on a breed yet. My only requirements are a fairly small size, solid temperament and the ability to have it off lead without it bolting.

Lol I wish there was a specific breed that guaranteed that! Thats up to the owner to enforce with training, not the breed

Oh yeah, I get that but certain breeds, sight hounds, for instance, are known to be less reliable off lead. Can't blame them, they're just doing what comes naturally.

    Hi Petra,

    Welcome to the forum!

What was the dog you had growing up? Any old piccies? You'll learn pretty quickly that we're a bit nutso for doggy photos

What was your old dogs name? What happened to him/her when you didn't have the time anymore?

    Angela.

    Hi Angela.

Sorry, I just realised my post wasn't clear. I had a dog growing up (Golden Retriever). His name was Sylvester (yes I know, Sylvester the dog - I was about 11 when I got him). He died when he was 11. No idea how, one day he was fine and the next he was gone, the vet said his organs had shut down. Sorry I don't have any photos, it was well before the digital age. There are a few photos at my parent's house, I'll have to ask mum to send me some.

I haven't had the time to dedicate to a dog since so I haven't got one. I've also moved around a lot and not always landed in dog friendly places.
