Shattered his collar bone but A OK now
Yeah, moments like that often spur a self preservation reaction. No shame in that in my opinion. Glad he didn't become another statistic

I have a bit of a fear of bikes as my best mate's brother died on his bike.

I alternate between wanting to hope on the back of one and admiring from afar

I did have a deaf red female previously and she was the same. I've just gone on the assumption that the instinct is there to bark, and the bark gets a reaction. Deaf dog knows not that sound is a part of it but knows it gets a reaction. My theory anyways.

I'll never encourage anyone to take up an interest in riding. If they want to ride bad enough they will make those steps themselves. I will offer the most responsible guidance I can to them. I have lost mates to them. One was at the fault of another motorist and the other was due to his own stubborness not to take his medication. Apparent diabetic coma.

I would never ride one, but occasionally I toy with the idea of having a go on the back once in my lifetime

Be very careful, it can get you hooked
I took a friend for a ride on mine after she showed very little interest and after that day she wouldn't stop hassling me for another. Hehehehe

It's more the idea of 'actually doing it'

I love riding pillion, have been doing so for around 10 years now. IMO better than riding because you can sit back, enjoy the ride and the view and I've even taught myself to take photos while we're riding so we get some amazing shots.

Tambo is my favourite ride. I will never, ever go up Mt Glorious though. Not sure if you've heard of it, but it has a rather large count for riders going down.

ETA: DGP the most important thing is to know that if you don't trust the rider implicitly and with everything you have, don't get on the bike under any circumstances. If you don't trust the rider you won't enjoy the ride.

I have heard of mt Glorious. I believe one of my mates has gone down on that mt more than once. He used to average 1 crash a year, more in recent years.
