Cool Dora Says Hello! (And So Do I)

Hi, my name's Masha and I'm from Sydney. I'm 15 years old and I have an adorable Tenterfield Terrier who's 13 weeks old (nearly 14!) named Dora.

    backgroud story:
I've wanted a dog for three years, but since we live in a complex the neighbours get a say in whether we can get a dog or not. We asked for a German Shepherd, but my neighbours are those people who think that if I dog has a big enough backyard it doesn't need walking. I strongly disagree with that, but no matter how hard we tried to convince them that the GSD will get two daily walks, they said no, convinced our medium sized backyard was too small.
We settled on asking for a small dog, to which they agreed. After a bit of researching, we found the Tenterfield. And that's how Dora came into our lives

Dora is certainly a cutie - takes me back to my teen years when my boyfriends family had a mini foxi, she was like a beer can on legs.

Hahah, yea. I only got Dora 6 days ago, and so far she's being wonderful. The only issue I have with her is meeting other dogs. She used to get very agressive a few days ago, growling at them and lunging. It's gotten a lot better in the past couple days, she's just being sniffing them, tail between her legs, then walking away which is a great improvement. I think it's because this is all so new to her and shes scared.
I've tried to socialise her every day, taking her on two walks a day, one in the morning one in the evening (to get rid of all that energy!).
Lately I've being trying to socialise her with my friend's 11 week Labrador, but she's very wary of him.

Well, remember how big a lab would seem to little Dora!

It's great to socialize her but remember at her age she may get a little overwhelmed. Has she had all her vaccs? It's very important she does before you introduce her to other animals and such.

Good luck! You're in for quite a ride.

She's very cute. Keep socialising her as this is vitally important. As Pei said though, wait till she has all her vaccs.

A realist just finishes the damn thing and refills it.
