Thread: Big Dog to Little Dog

Default Big Dog to Little Dog

hi all, it's nice to find somewhere to come and learn how best to care for my dogs. Although I've had dogs all of my life, I have never had a small dog (apart from our family dog when i was a child).
I currently have an eight year old lab bitch and after Xmas we are collecting our first small dog, a little maltese/****zu boy.
We also have two Burmese cats, 10mo boy and 4mo girl - they are full siblings.

Hope to learn a bit here and get to know you all <maybe not ALL??!!> along the way

    Heidi

Welcome Heidi. Your name is very special, as one of the best dogs I ever had was called Heidi. Never come across it again until now.

Look forward to seeing you here.

    Hi Heidi &

May i ask about your x breed Maltese, are you adopting from a shelter or deliberately buying from a designer dog cross breeder, BYB, petshop etc??

Yes it's def a name better suited to dogs than people - have to admit I have hated it all my life. My Mum's dutch, she found it in a comic book many years ago. There's not many of us. My brother's lady friend has a retriever called Heidi too. Makes for some very embarrassing and "ha ha ha SO not funny" moments.

Floyd, we are buying him from a BYB. I have to admit total ignorance, I thought a maltese shihtzu was bred from a malteze and a shihtzu, but apparently no - the parents are both maltese shihtzu.

I'd love that one explained to me :-)

ooh did i mistake your meaning here Floyd? I just noted the emoticons. Am I on a site that only condones rehoming dogs? How embarrasing, trust me to not have read the home page info correctly!
