i think the pet centre deserves to be reported anonymously to crime stoppers.

In the meantime I would not tell anyone about the possible "amstaff".

I'd also think about keeping the receipt, and if council does decide your dog is a "pitbull" you can use the receipt to get them or your consumer affairs or your police to get your money back for selling you something that is not legal for them to sell and "not fit for purpose" as a pet. "not fit for purpose" is a magic legal phrase to get shops to give you your money back for things that are sold as one thing and turn out to be another.

But puppy is adorable - very difficult to give up something like that. I know people who have kept blind or deaf or wobbly puppies because they or their children can't bear to give them up despite their problems.

Do all the right things by your dog as ChoppaChop said. Get it desexed, microchipped, registered with your local council, and join an obedience dog club. And never let it bite anyone. Will need practice. And like I said before, hitting puppy for biting not always effective deterrent - it's like punching back when someone tries to punch you, ie likely to escalate the "game" or fight.

I did a thread in the puppy section titled 'continued nipping' I have a 12 week old GSD that is still a bit nippy. People have given some great advice in there

Its too early to really tell Justin, she's just a baby. If pushed I would say she is certainly 'Bullyish' .
Her little white markings are devine though , the one on her mouth looks like perfect pouting lips

The biting is something that you will need to work at , she wont get it overnight.

Can I just add here that should you decide you cannot do this to at least say so here before just giving her away ?

I'm a believer in a short sharp low gutteral growl "NO!" and a quick smack on the rump or a quick smack with something like an A4 sheet rolled up.

It usually goes against the grain of what people will say but I look at it this way; When the pups bite mum hard, she snaps at them and lets them know it is wrong.

I do not advocate regularly smacking however and it should only be used when the pup will not otherwsie stop after you have tried to divert and other methods.

I NEVER play biting games with pups. I only ever allow them to play with toys with me holding them. I have toys everywhere so when they want to bite, I quickly grab a toy. If they persist in trying to bite me, I resort to the option described above.

Juzza, please read megan's thread regarding her German Shepherd puppy and it's constant nipping. She has stated it was a help to her, so if you read that you will get some ideas on how to stop the nipping/biting problem asap.
