    Default Hi from Leec

    Hi All,

I am a new member of this forum. I have been doing a little bit of lurking and decided to join.

I have previously owned 2 beautiful staffords, Ed and Maggie, who both passed away in the last 6 months. Ed was nearly 15 years old and succumbed to old age, dear old man and Maggie was only 10, she passed away from inoperable mast cell tumours. Maggie is and was my heart dog and I miss her every day.

On Jan 11 my husband and I adopted a dog from Staffie Rescue Victoria. His name is Chad and he is a staffy cross. It is very unusual for SRV to rescue staffie crosses, but they were contacted by some people in Canberra who were trying to get him out of the pound before he was put to sleep - he had only 1 night left and the vet was coming. Lucky for Chad and us, all these lovely people worked together and got Chad to Victoria. SRV contacted us, as they knew we had been looking for a new family member for a while and we went and had a look at him. He is absolutely gorgeous and is my hubby's dog. My hubby rides mountain bikes and camps a lot with his mates and has always wanted a dog that he could take with him. Chad is a very fit and athletic young lad, 2 years old, and fits the bill entirely. We believe he is crossed with an American bulldog, but not absolutely certain.

As for me, Chad has helped to heal my heart immensely, but I'm not ready for a dog of my own yet. But when the time comes I will adopt again from SRV. I love staffies and when my heart is ready, we will adopt another dog, that needs a second chance, through no fault of its own. I have a lot of love to give, but I'm just not ready.

Anyway, I will try to upload some photos of my beautiful mob.

    Welcome Leec

Gorgeous set of pictures you have there.

You might have to watch the mostly white one doesn't get sunburn - which leads to sun cancers but otherwise he looks great. Certainly made himself at home at your place

Canberra is probably the best place for finding all the pound dogs homes. They do put some to sleep but most of the healthy ones get new homes. I wish all the pounds were that good.

    Hi Hyacinth,

Yep, he is mostly white and we are very good at putting sunblock on him now. We have also bought a 'rashie t-shirt' with 97% block out for him. As you can see though, his favourite place is inside out of the sun 1040297_10152266817652009_182519386_o.jpg

OMG that is the most adorable thing I have seen all day!!

Welcome to the forum, sorry about the loss of your babies, glad Chad has been able to help fill the gap left by them.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

    G'day Leec,

    Welcome to the forum

So sorry to hear about your lovely pooch's passing ....and both so close together. I can understand why you feel the way you do. Chad looks like a little ripper.

Thank you everyone for the welcome and the lovely comments about my dogs.
Chad most certainly is a little ripper, we are very lucky to have had him come into our lives, he is a hoot and so full of energy and love.
