    Default Hello from the Highlands

    Hi, I'm Jen.

I've had dogs all my life; my first dog and I grew up together and I've never been without a dog. Currently I've got 4 - all females: Ruby, Maggie, Molly and Zoe. I adopted Ruby from the pound, Maggie and Zoe were private re-homes, and Molly came from a rescue group in NSW.

I also have horses; have ridden for much of my life but bought my first horse last year and I'm totally in love with the sport and horse ownership generally.

Soon I'll be adding some chickens to my menagerie as I have the room for them. I'm also getting back into vegetable gardening after a long break.

No children, divorced and happily live without a partner.

I have previously been involved in rescue and I found it very rewarding even when it was also heart-breaking.

Other than animals, I also like seeing movies and bands, travel here and overseas, reading, writing and second-hand shopping!

    Welcome Highland Girl

Despite me living in Canberra for a long time, I still think of highlands as somewhere in Scotland. I'm guessing yours are somewhere near Jindabine / Thredbo snowy mountain highlands?

There's bits of South Australia I'd call Highlands but not for their altitude but more for their altered mental states. :S

No, opposite end of the Hume highway...around Bowral!

Thanks for the welcome. Three of my dogs are de-sexed, one is about to go in for her op. They get along well most of the time...but like any pack they have their moments. I think I'm pretty lucky though. I've got a staffordshire cross, two chihuahua mixes and a fox terrier cross. All rescues.

Hume highway - southern end is Melbourne, Northern end is Sydney. Doesn't go through Cooma / Jindabyne. Maybe that's the Monaro Highway (I just love the name of that one - though how the car and the highway / region manage to have the same name with completely different pronunciations beats me).

Hmm, had lunch at Mittagong last time I was travelling that way and then took the evil hound to the park at the top of the hill behind the golf course... She didn't get off lead there either because there were horses next door. And I do believe I've been to a few equestrian events in the area, Berrima mainly.
