thanks, as for intro - 4 dogs all mutts, 2 puppies and 2 adults. 2m, 2 f...all nuts. live west of bris-vegas, hoping to get a group of people to meet up and have dawg days to socialise dogs, train, talk about dogs and training. interested in anything active sporty with dogs but not interested in clubs or trials.

hoping might be some like minded people here that like doing fun stuff with dogs that does not involve dressing them in human clothes and giving them names like poopsy honey bunch.

    cheers

Haha! Well we would qualify with a dog called Brian but a bit far from Perth. Mind you he does wear a red raincoat, more like a horse blanket.
Sounds like you have your hands full, lucky dogs always someone to play with. Looking forward to hearing more about them.

Brian is fine, just not snooklessy pooh. is that Brian in the avatar? avatars are beyond my skill level.

careful what you ask for as i can bore anyone to death talking about my dawgs. can you suggest which sub-forum to post to find a doogie meet group thingy?

I suspect that's why most of us joined the forum... you've come to the right place.

As for a social thread - we don't have a specific bit, most of us browse by new posts or todays posts (under quick links) anyway.

So I suggest you wander over to General Dog Forum and start a new thread with something like

West of Bris Vegas Social Meetups...
And then put something specific in your opening post like
Want to meet up at (insert place) for doggy fun (have you heard of Treiball? - like soccer for dogs),
    on (insert time and date).

There are some hazards to meet ups...

Don't bring food unless it's in a dog proof container.
Don't leave things on the ground you mind being pee'd on (nobody is Dog/Perfect).
People have different rules about what polite (or acceptable) doggy behaviour is. Everyone needs to be clear - don't expect other people to mind read.
Try to supervise all initial doggy greetings.
Be aware that some dogs require other dogs to be polite and then they're ok, some dogs are in rehab and need gentle interactions, and some dogs just freak out in new places in ways their owners didn't expect.
Be careful of bringing out toys and dog treats - in case some dogs are resource guarders.
Any dog as big or bigger than a BC can cause humans and other dogs (and themselves) major injuries by doing zoomies without looking where they're going.
Yelling OI OI OI OI as they approach zooming works for me, but you need to protect your dog too.
Pick up after your dog. Don't argue with people if they point out a poo and assign it to your dog, just pick it up.

There were a few of us Brisbane people that had a meet up last year (i think it was) we were organising more but never got around to it. The people that came last time don't really come to the forum any more! At the moment it is a bit hard for me to go to meet ups as I have a 6 week old bub and a FIFO hubby and trying to wrangle Bella and a baby wouldn't be too fun! lol You should post pictures of your pups.

We just went to the dog park in Nudgee and let them have a run around and then took them over to the "beach" there for a run and play! It was a really good day and most of the time they were well behaved! lol
