Default Inuk, The Alaskan Klee Kai (rare breed) woofs a friendly "Hello!" to all

Inuk woofs a "Merry Ho and a Terry O!" to everybody!

We live in balmy Singapore and travel to Australia sometimes. We so love the dog friendly culture in Australia that's a little lacking in Singapore. Leashing is a must in public places. Thankfully there are a few places in Singapore where you can legally let them run free.

Alrighty, then. A little about this breed. The Alaskan Klee Kai is so nicknamed Mini Husky for its likeness with its nordic cousins. The first group of Klee Kais was privately bred in the 70s in America by a lady, Linda Spurlin. This bred was made known to the world only recently and hence considered to be rare. I think there is only 1 such registered breeder in Australia to date.

Inuk is considered a miniature for his breed and weighs only 6.8kg at 14 months. Inuk is a highly inquisitive, intelligent and loving little fellar. Apart from the weekend family outings and daily walks, we spend many evenings snuggling and playing in our living room where Inuk lovingly showers us with ticklish Klee Kai kisses. Inuk was the typical shy Klee Kai when we first had him. We had to spend time socializing the shyness out of our Inuk into the more confident tiger he is today. Inuk gets along easily with any canine non-aggressors though he tends to be a little "bully" at playtime.

At the moment, Inuk is still attending basic obedience training and we can't wait for the day he graduates! Woot! Even so, I'm still very proud of my little Inuk!

What a cute little pup you have there.

Always love learning about breeds of pups I haven't come across before - so thank you for the information.

    Hi grevillea47,

Thank you! You have good observation powers! Inuk is indeed energetic. I suppose he might look heavier than he really is because he is tall. I pop him in a go-to bag sometimes when we travel in a taxi cab. He's pretty comfy.

We're getting to the last command in the syllabus which is "Come". After which, we will practise the commands in public. How exciting!

    Hi maddogdogge,

You dooo? I hope you get to fulfil your heart's desire for they are good little dogs. Agility's their game because they are so nifty on their feet and can go on and on.

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to mention this on this public forum as I don't want to break any rules. There is a facebook page for available pups that gets updated freq. If you can't find it, I can PM you the actual page. Lemme know.

They sound like such gorgeous little dogs! i'm normally not really keen on small dogs, but as soon as i heard about AKK's i was instantly in love
They look like they would make great agility dogs! I planned to compete in agility with my Australian Shepherd but he ended up becoming dog aggressive so i cant take him to classes. I've been training him at home as a hobby instead!
When i am ready for another dog i will definitely check out that page, thanks!
