What a cute boy, I know we have one member down in Sydney who was looking for play dates. I will have to find the thread for you though.

You will be able to socialize him as soon as you get him with friends etc, so long as it is with fully vaccinated healthy dogs. I would avoid places like parks though until he is fully vaccinated.

There is no psychiatrist in the world like a puppy licking your face.

Yes, He will be strictly not allowed around other dogs, or anywhere but home until he has his next needle.

But I'm overly anxious to get to planning play dates and such for him, As he will be sharing a yard (but both separated by two fences) with a very unstable dog, Who has just been left in the backyard for yrs (he does come around to new dogs if introduced properly)

I also have a friend whos puppy arrives in 2 weeks (but she dosnt live close ) so we are going to have puppy dates when we can.

also A friend who is meeting for the second time, a beautiful male bull terrior x (bull arab is my guess) from the pound , who he might be adopting.....(I may have something to do with the persuasion here ) Who, If he does end up getting him, would be happy to take the boys fishing and bushwalking with me in the future

You might like to look into puppy pre-school if you can't find friends or family with nice friendly dogs.

Waiting for vaccinations misses the critical window of socialisation.

I get all my pups out from 9 weeks of age. They even go to dog shows from that time onwards a risk I'm prepared to take.

I get them out to friends places with friendly dogs and down to the shopping centre around lots of noise and people.

Your friend who may be getting the dog from the pound I wouldn't be rushing out to meet up with until the dog has gone thru a period of "quarantine" in his new home. As pounds are a great Canine Cough haven and even vaccinated dogs can get CC, with puppies and old or dogs with a lowered immune system are more prone to. He may not show signs of illness but can carry it.

Yes I am very aware of CC, as I once upon a time was a foster carer.
Hence the 'in the future' part......Although It will seem like forever!! lol
But since I waited a good 3plus yrs to get a new puppy (since my dane was taken by a snake bite in qld) so waiting a bit longer wont hurt I guess.

I would LOVE to take him to a puppy pre school, but the location and hours dont work for me since I have a one car house hold and my partner has the car for work at these times, I dont think It will be a possibility =(

Hi bayards_mum! Welcome to the forum

I'm not far from you but my little 8 kilo girl probably wouldn't handle being around a large boisterous pup!
I know of one place that has puppy school on weekends, would that help?
