Thread: This is why commercial dog food is not good for you dog!

Default This is why commercial dog food is not good for you dog!

There are a range of problems with commercial dog food.

The truth about most commercial dog food is that they are loaded with additives and harmful chemicals that harm your dog over time.
Many dogs are suffering from many elements that can be avoided when the right food is fed to them.

The Pet Food Industry is a Multi-Billion Dollar Industry Driven By Greed

It's designed to glean profits at our dogs expense.

What else goes into dog food:

    dead zoo animals
euthanized pets from the pound (with poisons still in them)
    road kill
dead, dying, diseased, and cancerous cattle from feed lots
    dead horses
    skin, hide, feathers
anything else they can't turn into human food

So I suggest you do the right thing by your dog and buy raw meat and bones from butchers or markets. Because if you give a dog a choice between a bowl of dried dog food or a bowl of raw meat. The dog will go the raw meat every time because that is their natural instinct. And that is what their stomach is designed to digest.

    Cheers.

My dogs are mainly on a raw diet, though I do give them what I consider good quality dog biscuits.

Without sounding like I am looking for an argument (because I am not) where did you get your information from - that is a pretty big statement to make and will, I guess, make most of us feel quite ill if true.

Posting the same info multiple times doesn't give it any more impact. And sweeping, inflammatory statements will hurt your cause more than it will help it.

I'm not going to get into the food debate, but Ratbag, I can absolutely guarantee that there is little to no truth in that post, so don't worry too much.

I wouldn't engage CC. We tried that before.

I also very much doubt the source of the info in this post. Most of us know MOST commercial food is not the best diet for any dog, but euthanised pets?

And I don't have any issue with my dog eating horse meat. I grew up on it myself in Europe!

Does this count for brands such as science diet? :/ And can we get some links for proof of this because it's kind a big thing.

Actually, I think he did. The thread was posted twice in the forum, and when I looked at initially, there was only one post in this thread (no replies). I decided to ignore it. When I came back, it had multiplied, and the posts are 1-2 minutes apart, not all the same time.

I have read euthanized pets from the pound go into pet food. I've read it somewhere but i can't remember where, i think it was an article that had something to do with pound animals and where their remains go?

I still feed my cat's commercial cat food - now and then they get a chicken neck or raw fish but the majority is canned cat food and they do fine on it. I agree it isn't the best but they have lovely coats & look remarkably good & i get comments all the time on how good they look. I agree that canned food isn't the best - my dogs are on RAW, but the majority of the public don't know the difference and most animals get by fine on it so i don't think anybody should be judged on what they choose to feed their animals, it's gotta be better than feeding them nothing?

Edit to post: I use to work at a huge meat processing works. If cows died in the yard before they were stunned, they are not allowed for human consumption (Halal regulations) and their meat/carcass was sent to pet food production. So diseased & injured cattle are put into pet food.
