Default SUCCESS!!! Thanks to the Thundershirt!

Okay so i recently bought a Thundershirt for Koda!
When we took him to the pet shop to try it on, he was really frightened.... he was shaking and extremely jumpy!
Literally the second the Thundershirt was put on him, he stoped shaking and was really calm and happy!

I have still had lots of trouble brushing out Koda's tail... even with two people (me brushing and someone else comforting him and giving him treats) it was difficult! I have been getting quite desperate cause it was starting to get matted... i would just be devistated if i had to shave it!
Anyway, so today i decided to try brushing him while he was wearing his thundershirt! IT WORKED!!!!!
I am so thrilled, he only tried to turn around a couple of times, i actually managed to brush it out properly!
I am going to keep doing this every day until it is completely knot free!
The difference this Shirt makes is incredable, today Koda went from being very anxious and unable to keep calm and focused on the other person with treats... to literally just sitting there completely chilled out while i am brushing his tail (there were a few times where i was pulling quite hard... and he didnt even react!)
Would definately recomend the thundershirt for anyone who has a dog with anxiety issues!
(apparently it works for reavtivness towards people/dogs as well... i'll have to give that a go when i get the chance)

Great story! It is amazing to see the difference in your own dog, isn't it. We have a Thundershirt for Nero too so we can actually get some sleep when there's a storm outside. I had the best results when I put in on early, i.e. the first signs of wind coming up is Thundershirt time! Last time it came off because I put on the front strap too loose. He promptly woke me up in the middle of the night panting and pacing. I put the Thundershirt back on and 30 secs later he was snoring away.

When we put it on the first time I expected sulky looks and him refusing to move (similar to the 'cone of shame') but nothing... he really likes wearing it.

Yes i thought Koda would do that as well, but no, he is fine with it and he is just so much more relaxed with it on

margoo - that also is really good to read your experience with the shirt. One more useful tool in our 'box of tricks' for our pups. Sure beats drugs - any day !

Its really great to see your having such improvements with these shirts. How/what is the reason they work? What is the science behind the shirt?

It works because the shirt is quite tight, the constant pressure on the dogs chest (somehow) calms them, apparently it makes the feel as though they are being hugged!

When Molly is inside the house she just walks and walks and walks and won't ever settle, the same as during the night, will NEVER settle on her bed and is always waking me up with her walking (the only way she sleeps is if shes on our bed, and that doesn't leave much room for us!). I was thinking of buying a thundershirt because she is scared during storms- do you think it would also help to get her to settle inside?
