My kids get into trouble for making out with the dog, it truly is disgusting, he will lick them and tries to lick me on the face as much as possible, sometimes I don't pull away and I cop a slobber on the chops!

I don't personally have experience with any of the 5 AST lines around or the multitude of x lines, but I will pm you shortly of a breeder breeding to the old STCA breed definition model in Australia, the breeders dogs look like the 1940's show stoppers but are heavily linebred but not to a detriment, they probably would not rate well in today's showing as they are a terrier to moderate style AST.

editing late, when I am saying probably would not rate well it is my own assumption going on what seems to be popular on the net, but in saying that there is a saying assumption sometimes makes an ass out of u an me and they probably do rate well

My opinion is that there is very little difference between any of the staffy breeds(SBT, Amstaff and APBT) as far as their temperaments and overall nature goes. If you've already brought up one of the 3 successfully then you should wind up with a very similar natured dog taking on any of the 3.

I think some of the AMStaff are still being bred to a standard. But there's no rules for APBT in Australia, so you'd have to find someone who still looks to the USA standard.

SBT - there are many back yard breeders - breeding crap dogs that can be unhealthy and grumpy, but the ANKC registered ones I've met are gorgeous well mannered energetic dogs.

I think - this is how Amstaff got off in QLD - they have been selecting these for a nicer temperament - especially with other dogs. All of them are supposed to be great with their family - the people. A hundred years ago or more, some were bred to hate other dogs - and you want one that comes from a line where they don't automatically hate all other dogs. You're more likely to get this with a ANKC papered Amstaff than a random APBT - which may or may not be purebred anyway since there are no rules about sneaking other breeds or cross breeds into the lines.

I agree Jon. There is little difference between them

And more laid back as in...well not lazy exactly. They were more inclined to laze around until I suggested we go for a walk, the Pits however demand to go for a walk when they feel like it lol!
