Lap it is so - unless I end up with some massive big thing! It's gonna be risky, me going to an animal shelter - the first pair of sad eyes to catch my attention, I will want to bring home, regardless of what it is, chihuahua or dane!

Of a normal trip in the car, do you guys use a harness? I remember trying to put one on my dog at home and he just wriggled about until he got all tangled up and was basically pinned to the seat! Funny, yes, but not very practical!

I did buy a harness after we feared that Banjo was going to jump out of the window on the freeway on the way home from picking her up. Then I stupidly left her in the car with it on one day, so I could leave the window wide open for her while I ran an errand. When I came back she had chewed through the strap that clips into the seatbelt thing. But she was still sitting in the car! I haven't bought a new one yet, but I do like to open the window so she can stick her head out and I still worry about her jumping out, so I will get a new one. And find the harness which I friggin lost in the meantime.

That is my main reason for wanting to use one, even though of course it is a safety thing for the humans in the first place.

And the dog...I picked up a dog that was thrown through the windscreen in an accident, not a good outcome
