I am a bit funny about dogs rushing up to Oskar in a street environment, makes me feel a bit wary, if it;s on a dog beach, it's a different story, because it's an offleash area, but yeah, if a dog comes up to us unleashed, then I would be a tad shitty!!

    Yea for sure...

I have had a dog rush Pippi and I got shitty. But that is because she is highly DA yet when she goes berserk, we are the ones who look like pricks despite the fact she is on a lead LOL

In South Australia the dog must be under effective control of a responsible person - and the minimum age of a "responsible person" is 16 here. And dogs are only allowed off lead in designated areas, footpaths are always on lead.

And a dog is not allowed to rush at or harrass another dog, person or other person's pet or livestock etc or wildlife. I think vermin eg rats and mice might be the exception.

So by SA law there is fault on both sides here.

It is really bad for someone else to assume it's ok for their dogs to rush up to another dog just because "their dogs are friendly" but if you hear this you could reasonably assume that those dogs will not attack you if you step between your dog and them and throw a handful of treats at them while you leave at speed. Or you could yell at them FEROCIOUSLY - "GO HOME BAD DOGS" ie be as tall and scary as you can. That usually puts off most dogs. Especially friendly ones with stupid owners.

LOl Pippi is not just a little bit DA...she is completely attack first and dont even bother to ask questions later. No warnings either. The minute she spots another dog, she is in berserk mode. She has never met a puppy since she has grown and I wouldnt want her too. And actually its not just dogs. She is aggressive to every other animal. Gets all obsessed and wants to kill em by the look of her.

Its bloody embarrassing actually. She flips round on the end of her lead like a bloody yoyo. I am pretty onto it though and usually spot them before her and go round a corner or something lol. I would like to work on it at some stage but its kind of about finding another dog who is completely bomb proof and will not react at all, and finding a place to do it where here wont be loads of other dogs.

When we went to puppy preschool, I saw the signs and we did try to socialise her but it just didnt help AT ALL. In my opinion, its fear aggression an dher motto is "attack before being attacked".

Even when my mums dog stayed the other xmas, we kept her inside and the boys outside. She was anxious for the whole 4 days. I had to stop her from being able to get close to the back door.

She sounds like a monster...shes not, shes a sweetheart. And it wont stop us from getting another dog one day because she will just have to deal with it, and she will. But it does stop things like dog parks and walking during peak dog walking time.

    Sorry...hijacked LOL.
