Sorry about posting in the wrong area guys and for not searching other threads, to be honest I didn't even look to check if there was a feeding board so feel free to move it! Just me having a slight blonde moment!

I've found that the '4paws' dog food rolls are pretty good, they're all natural, no preservatves, no added flavours etc etc, just chicken, veges and pasta/rice and they're relatively cheap ($4.50 a roll). My girls now get nutro biscuits for breakfast (they don't usually eat them right away, just pick at them slowly through the day) and then chicken and kangaroo mince from the supermarket for dinner plus some 4paws roll and a few chicken necks and meaty lamb bones throughout the week.

Kangaroo mince is great, but can be very rich so you need to introduce it slowly and it probably doesn't agree with all dogs. Mum and dad's golden retriever has had some weight problems and tore a ligament in her leg and the vet has put her on a strictly kangaroo mince and vegetable diet only (as well as a glucosamine tablet and some oil tablet, maybe fish-oil? I cant remember) and she's doing great! Lost heaps of weight, recovered well from surgery and is back to her healthy, happy self!

Kristy maree, your girls look gorgeous and very healthy so you must be doing something right..

Thank you for the info on the kangeroo meat, i havent actually fed that before, but have been giving them a small amount with there usual dinner for a couple of nights as i need to get a little weight off one dog who ended up with a sore back a few weeks ago while chasing a ball...the silly moppet, so she needs to drop a little weight, thanks for the info on your mums dog.

I bought some today for $3/kilo from another butcher but the butcher was quite vague on what went in it (but did mention breadcrumbs, huh?) and it smells and looks a bit dodgy. I suspect it may be sausage mince that's past it's use by date or something - it smells spicy. I had already ordered it before I asked what was in it.

And I found one chicken place that sells pet mince for $1.40, but they hadn't made up this week's batch yet (they're only open Wed-Sun).

Our pet shop sells $3 chicken pet mince, but it looks suspiciously pink. I mean, bright pink.

Soon I'll have checked every butcher in the area!

It would be hard to say whether any difference is due to the Phuds or due to the raw meat because I switched her to that mix after feeding supermarket can food for a few months. The big difference is the reduction in farting and pooing! But I suspect that is the meat.

Good luck with the pet mince hunt, i have also seen and bought some fairly dodgy stuff, but when you find a good butcher,,you will stick with him.
I will add that in the past couple of days of introducing kangeroo, my guys could euthanise the entire population of a small city with there farts......DISCUSTING banned from the bedroom....

Yes their farts are definitely disgusting with kangaroo mince! Lucky they do settle down after a while haha If they didn't then that would be enough reason to not feed it!
