maybe he noticed someone in the bush
This - I reckon. But how would you know they were planning to start a fire? It might be helpful to pass on the info to crime stoppers anyway, it may help them work out who was where when and where to start looking ie often where the fire was started or set up doesn't get burnt.

At least the reserve is less likely to burn next summer.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, the fire got under control but did get very close to houses. The fire was still going today with smoke and soot everywhere, eventually the rain came in and have completely put out the fire and I can finally smell fresh air instead of the smoke. The fire fighting boys did an excellent job thank god for these fellas...

I just watched your youtube tribute to Obie, tears streaming down my face now ... do you know there's a Facebook page called Pets of Perth - Lost and Found, it may be worth your while liking the page, the networking on this page is pretty far and wide and you can at least get Obie's details out there ...
