    Totally Murphey's Law.

I had Keira on Pet Insurance for 12 months but decided not to renew my policy because she was not covered for a lot of stuff and I had not used it at all in those 12 months.
Literally the day after her cover ran out, I had to race her to the vet and she was diagnosed with a case of Pancreatitis (which I am positive was caused by antibiotics she was on) - $450 (which isn't so bad all things considered) but couldn't claim it as her cover had run out! Was a tad annoyed.

Vets can charge whatever they like because they are guaranteed payment and they would figure that the insured owner gets it all back anyway ... but LL what you had to go through last night on top of the stress of having your girl be so sick was very bad manners ... hoping things improve for you

I had pet insurance for close to 15 years and am very undecided whether to get it again as I only used it a couple of times in all those years - it's very much Murphy's Law though ...
Now thats a thought, they do always ask if you have insurance? I have it for my 4 but you still have to come up with the money first! I wonder do any vets, or can vets, just wait for the medibank payment? and you then pay any difference?.

    Ok update
Firstly u guys are the best Internet pals ever and I love you guys to bits.
My girl is doing good today, still paralyzed but doing good.
We had to take in our own food and she ate n drunk water from us
So they asked us to come in with more food.
They decided to give her the anti venum during the night and this is what's
Make her perk up and feel a bit better.
I called my insurance and I am still on the 100% money back thank god.
My insurance advices me to take a copy of my insurance in and tell them
I am covered and to give me time to make my claim as insurance said they're being totally
Unreasonable the vet she is at is the on at albanycreek on the corner of Keong road..
They r very good but bloody rip offs .
I told the stats nit that this is animal cruelty not fixing my dog....
I have had hardly any sleep feel sick and worried about her.
I can honestly see how the vets are when they do require the moneybut
When it's a customer that has insurance and I can prove it they should give some
    Leeway.
I will posts pic other soon.

Just gother leg taken off..she I'd a reqular there at the vets..so so adorable.

So happy to hear she's feeling a bit better. Hope she comes good soon and your rotten luck comes to a end. I swear you must have broken a mirror or walked under a ladder.

Springwood Emergency Vet was the place i went to with my cat. Vet was awesome but i didn't agree with the prices ($99.00 just to get in the door) overall my vet bill totaled $800 for a two puncture wounds on my cat's ass! (i capped his treatment at $800) Just last month my other cat had three puncture wounds on his head, took him to an ordinary vet paid $350 - HOW DOES THAT WORK!! Daylight robbery i tell ya!

I know in NZ there are many rural veterinary clinics that allow you to have payment plans (never did i have to pay upfront for any procedures) and pet insurance is virtually unheard of back there because there is no need for it. First time i ever heard of pet insurance was when i moved here.

There is an automatic extra charge if you go to the E-Vet as it is out of hours, the vets and vet nurses are all on overtime which means penalties so they need to cover that extra cost. I do understand the extra cost.
When Phi got a UTI and I had to take her to the E-Vet (I spotted urine in her blood and didn't know why so to the Evet on a Sunday it was) it cost me around $300/400 which is expensive, but better than not getting treatment, and seeing as I claimed it back on insurance I wasn't too worried. They were very good as well, the vets and nurses are lovely and do a very good job.

LL- So glad to here your girl is doing so much better, what a relief.
Any reason you go to Albany Creek? I thought you were southside based? Seems like a hell of a way to go when you could go to Springwood.

The point i was trying to make was why did two similar injuries have such a difference in price? How do you have an injury costing $350 and then one at $800? That is a fair difference! I'm not a cruel bitch, so of course i'm going to pay whatever to get the problem fixed - doesn't mean i agree with what i'm paying (and sorry but $99 is ridiculous) next time i won't be heading for the first E-Vet i come across unless somebody is dying.

i am going to take a copy of my insurance in and tell them I refuse to get a pet loan
they can wait until my insurance pays me.
I paid a deposit thats fair..
I am willing to sign something to say I will pay it when my insurance pays me or
    I will get the finance..
