Thread: Opinions? Help my name my puppy.

  1. #1

Default Opinions? Help my name my puppy.

I know I am new to the forum, and it is spaztic and random to want help from strangers but we're torn. We have a beautiful little boy puppy that was born under some not so great circumstances, but those circumstances is what led me to pick him - merely for the fact, he never gave up when he could have! He's a sweet heart and I posted some pictures of him on the introduction forum. We just hadn't found anything fitting, but last night we went through and picked out a couple we really liked. We just wanted to get some outside opinions regarding some of the names.

Ezriel - God Is My Aid

    Maddex - Little Fortunate One

    Yukio - Lucky

    Nero - Wise Warrior

His story is that during birth it got a little jostled and his umbilical cord tore a bit and when my friends and I arrived, originally to play with the dogs she had, she requested I come assist her with applying pressure to the umbilical cord. She was on the phone with her vet who asked, that she go get a puppy vita-supplement she had given her a day before for in case something like that had happened and she was unable to make it out. So while the breeder went to get the supplement to help give him a jump start in battling off the blood loss, I held him and applied pressure and all the while I just kind of sub consciously muttered encouragement to him! To our amazement he quit bleeding after only a couple minutes of me holding him, and she gave him the supplement to boost his strength. By the time we left, he was beating up siblings for food and doing just fine! He is such a fighter

A tough little bugger like that deserves a warrior name !!! Nero for sure.

Plus calling that name out loud for a recall sounds short and sharp. (and cool too !!)

I agree, i like the name nero - i really should look at the pictures of him first, but nero sounds like a fitting name.

I think the name Toa is fitting for him also (tow - ah) Maori word for warrior. Also means victorious & brave.

Ezriel would be the worst name for recall, I reckon! I agree that you have to shout it out a few times to see if it rolls of the tongue and has a potential for variety in volume.

I'm with Beloz - you have to have a name you can yell across a park. For me that rules out Ezriel, Yukio (too much like yukky), and Hyacinth (but it makes a good internet id).

What kind of dog is he - apart from having a troubled birth? I'm not sure how much Nero would suit a small dog, plus that name - for me is firmly attached to a famously stupid Roman Emperor.

Which leaves "Maddex" - which I think would be ok. Although lots of people call their former spouses that.

Nero is certainly the easiest and it also means 'black' . How about a pic?

I have to say I quite like big names for small dogs. I knew a JRT called 'Zeus' and a miniature poodle who was 'Napoleon'

i actually quite like Yukio... but i am the kind of person who really likes quite uniqe names
I dont really like Nero... but everyone has their own oppinions!
When i was choosing a name for Koda, i was considering the name Oreo... but was advised otherwise by a number of people because it sounds like NO... and the dog may get them confused if you say his name in the wrong tone by accedent...
