    Default Insurance

Just like to know what sort of insurance you guys have for your pets ?
I have Medibank , have found them to be really good and never had
any issues of them not paying up my vet bills..

Was just browsing beforehand and noticed woolworths now have insurance OMG
but they don't cover a lot if you read up in the fine print..

Medibank Gold Paw cover. Never had any major issues always paid out my claims. The only problem is they no longer offer 100% only 80%, this doesnt affect me (yet) but does affect new customers.

I know pet plan are very good as well and actually cover alternative therapies like chiro etc. I have friends who have made very large claims from petplan with no dramas (8grand in MRIs for their Cav when he was diagnosed with SM).

Which insurance covers dog biting someone outside the home? for example in the park?

I know when I had my older dog with Pet Plan I had public liabilty (or something similar) included in the policy. Basically I think I was covered up to 1 million dollars if my dog caused injury or death if I was sued by someone.

Just look at the policies for the different companies it will be listed.

Your property insurance should do that , Public liability . Anyone who has a dog or horses should have it. Or you could loose your house

I am with medibank.....LOL.........I have a $5800.00 claim going in right now. I am also still on 100% and Katy has been with them since she was three month old. It will be interesting to see how much I get back

Fingers and paws crossed, it is kinda scary

We are with Medibank. 80% cover, no excess. Haven't claimed anything so far.
Thank you for the info re public liability. We are with QBE, will call them on Monday to make sure it is covered under our content insurance. This thread made me wonder about it. Hooch is not a biter at all but it's always good to be covered than sorry.

Just looking at whats out there..
Like I said I have medibank
I have silver as the gold just adds
Routine care which does not cover for my breed
well it does but they only give you like $165 a year
and that would do one or two visits for me.
$45 for flea/tick preventative - mine is $100 for flea
    control alone..
    So I have the silver..

But as I will be adding 2 more babies I thought I would
just see what other options are available..
I could never change my girl as I would need to get a
whole report up again from my vet stating what she's had
and what she hasn't had.. It's just a whole lot of mucking around
as I was with 3 vets until I found my vet (long story) ..

PLease let us know how you go with that claim..VERY interested to
know if you get the full amount back..
I am still on the old plan 100% ..
Do we stay on that for as long as our dogs are with them or will it
go to 80% when it needs renewing ??

Till that dog dies, because i added Lukey and he has been 80%...So I have three 100% and one 80%

I am the same as you I am Silver, because I thought that the the excess was atcually less then the whole extra payments we would have to pay for the Gold for newfies, like you with yours
