This story is a bit sadder....

There was a home invasion, four blokes with masks and baseball bats and a knife. Dog and owner were stabbed, both taken to the appropriate hospitals, the owner is still critical - and they had to PTS the dog.
Sky News: Dog dead after home invasion

Police are seeking a motive for the attack by four men, armed with baseball bats and a knife, who forced their way into the house in Davoren Park.
Apparently the bad guys left with bugger all in the way of money or stuff. Maybe they picked the wrong house or maybe the dog got a few good chomps in and they changed their minds.

There was something similar about 6 months ago where four blokes invaded a house that was a great big show of wealth, and stole lots of valuable stuff and a BMW car, but nobody fought back in that one.

I really liked this pitbull story, I thought it was a great angle.

However, I did question whether the dog actually saved the owners life. If you read the story, the guy was trying to leave after being confronted byt he owner and the dog only then got involved. Unless I am thinking of another story I read int he last couple of days LOL
