Ovcharkas (Ukrainian like this one, Caucasian, Central Asian etc) are very large dogs with a job to do. They are a guarding dog with a very strong temperament and need land, not a backyard. They love their owners, it's what makes them great guardians. But breeds that easily fight wolves and bears are not a pet.

Primitive breeds will have less health problems and longer life spans due to severe natural selection. And dog with a problem out in that harsh environment would have died early or been dispatched of. The owners have no resources for weak or poorly animals and hence only the strongest have literally survived. Heavily domesticated breeds dont need to work, most barely need to do more then exist and yet are still bred from. When you have no line in the sand you end up with problems.

    bunny-girl

That is a complete different breed..
That dog would be so HIGH maintenance ..
A friend of mine had a dog very similar
    but a small version..
It looked like it had dreadlocks..
It's hair was always gross, so I can imagine
how the hair would get on this dog..

OMG that would be a full time groomer job.
Then again, you get a house mop for free with it LOL

bunny girls photo is a Komondor, a Hungarian herding/guarding breed. Similar temperament. The small version is the Hungarian Puli which you can buy in Australia.

I'd love to try one of the Ovcharka breeds as a working dog... when I get more space and time lol Central Asian first
