Hey Scott here is a nice example of a dog that would love a good home..there are many places to look, but this site has many. I have rescued a few newfies from different pounds..you just have to go looking.

I have rescued from as far away as Perth....and I still think it is do-able. It is amazing how much help you can get with transport for a rescue dog when you put it out there.

We had one newfie boy who had only hours to live, because we found him late. But with the help of some rescues on Dogzonline and some newfie people we got him out and transported 600kms all in two days.

People are incredible when you need help rescuing a dog, they go more then the mile.

Good luck...just remember when you get to the pounds it is heart wrenching, I have limited myself to only newfies, Bernese and Saints....Too hard to go the whole way. If ever I win the lottery. I am going to have a giants rescue........With huge paddocks for the dogs to roam and lovely dams/river/lake for swimming.......My Dream

Oops I forgot to post the link.....Lol Buzz's profile at PetRescue - is he your new best friend?

    This is just an example

Most of the Rescue newfie are great, but some have needed a lot of re-training LOL.........I still have two at home that are now with us forever, they were both quite a bit of trouble LOL

But I have met some great ones....But luckily not many. There are not too many newfies that land in Rescue, thank doG......

Quite a lot of Maremmas' land in Rescue, but do not get fooled into thinking they are the same as leonbergers, newfies and Bernese...they are a totally different dog and need a different type of owner. Preferably with stock to work (guarding). Many people who like the newfie type dog make the mistake of going for the Maremma.........my best friend is in maremma Rescue and she has so many go through her place. We often are amazed at how many go through Rescue

yeah, with vet bills and all, with newfs and large breeds having some issues with bone structure, i think as my first out of home dog i will adopt/rescue a doggy that needs a home, and thats a home i can give
    Thanks

    Hey Scott,
Great decision on rescuing a dog, the options are endless as there are so many needing a friend.

Sippy Creek animal shelter is a no kill refuge, and again I will put forward "chilli's" resume, as he has been there awhile and is beautifully natured although he needs a strong pack leader and a little obediance, but just a thought.
Sippy is about 3hrs drive from the Gold coast in Mooloolaba, so the distance might be a problem, but I thought it was worth putting out there.

I've moved Abbie's post about her escapee dog to a separate thread.

If anyone has a problem with a thread hijack like that (I think she being a desperate newbie - didn't quite realise where her post was going), please use the report button. It's the little ! mark inside a black triangle at the bottom of each post. We'll get to it eventually.
