    Good luck bunny,
Thinking of hooch today, he will be fine.

SO we left him at the vet.. walked out crying, my poor baby.
I asked if they will give him pain killers. they said only by injection but thats it. it is better that the dog feels pain so he doesnt tug on the stitches... should I argue with them and insist on pain killers for the next day?

I guess that makes sense...if it hurts he wont want to touch or annoy the area. If it is totally numb ,well i guess it's like going to the dentist as a kid where they give you a stamp on your hand so you dont chew on that side of your mouth because you could hurt yourself but not feel a thing.

It may also mean he wont need the cone of shame...did they say anything about him wearing one after ?

I must say i dont know anything about this just throwing my theory out there for the 2 cents it's worth...

I do feel for you...it's a terrible feeling walking out of a vet without your dog.....i hope all goes well

I probably wouldn't worry about it, thinking back Harley only had the shot and he was fine after. Bella had meds though for hers. I'd do cone of shame just to be safe... We all know what boys are like

We are home.. tiptoeing around the half asleep dog. we didnt get the cone of shame from the vet.. only realised it when we got home. should we get it? where from? vet is quite far from us and will probably be 45 mins each direction if we are to go back for it (closed by now).
We are so not sure what we are doing. Got a care sheet basically saying give him light food and drink. 10 days stitches come off, dont let him lick/tug on stitches. So will stick with what they say.
Do we reallllly need the cone??? he hasnt woken up properly yet, we are letting him sleep as much as he needs. Even getting takeaway so cooking doesnt wake him up.
So relieved he is still alive! lol

See how he goes, if he is paying to much attention to it I would, if he doesn't even notice its there don't worry about it! Lol the cones are horrible so if you can avoid using one I would! Harley use to ram his into the back of my legs when he had his, lol pay back for making him wear one!

    Glad the surgery went well
when i had Koda desexed, he was desperately trying to pull out the stitches, so he had to wear the cone of shame. The wound site also got infected so he had to have antibiotics and pain killers! He managed to completely destroy the cone of shame by rubbing it on the fence... lol took a lot of duct tape to fix that haha
AND when we finally got to have his stitches out, we discovered he had already pulled most out and there was only one stitch left in!
