Actually I find this whole public image thingy quite interesting though. Where I grew up a lot of breeds are banned or restricted (including pits, staffies and rotties) and I wonder sometimes what was there first: the ban or the attraction by dodgy owners. By 'dodgy' I'm not talking about an ordinary fashion fauxpas like spikes, but dogfight rings, drug pushers, pimps and alike. Because this was what happened when they got banned. Pretty much only people with (what I'd consider) serious issues were having those dogs, which has not exactly helped their popularity in public. I never really questioned this ban, perhaps because it was always there. So when I came here first I was quite taken aback by the number of bullbreeds in Australia. If I get visitors from overseas they always comment on this and have difficulties to believe that a lot of Australians like staffies because they're actually good with kids - and don't usually eat them.
    totally entiteled to an opinion..........

youre right though, once somthign becomes taboo or not allowed, it attracts all types of the "wrong type" of person.......

and yes i agree on your opinion in regards to spikes....to me they are just pointless.... but the same can be said abuot alot of jewlery that people wear these days....... its a form of expression...............maybe.

the roids debate is still going in my head, so i wont really say to much on it......

We put a spiked leather collar on a friend's cat because it kept getting savaged around the neck by other cats or possums. I wanted to make it an inside cat but the poo explosions when we tried this - erm were beyond belief. Eventually cat was returned to friend's parents' farm and died on the highway about 1km from the house. Some cats have no sense of self preservation.

The main thing I read about am bullies here - is that someone dodgy is selling them, promising papers (from the USA I guess) and never delivering. And the people who buy - come here and whinge about being dudded. I would recommend anyone who really wants one, to go to the source and import it directly - and pay the quarantine, cos it's cheaper than buying in Oz in the long run.

This dog isn't actually on steroids (I hope I'm not making a fool of myself here by pointing out the obvious) the dogs name is Wendy, there's a good video on youtube that explains it.

yeah, I also saw a documentry not long ago, it was called "worlds strongest kid" or something similar, about a young boy who has the same or a similar condition, it showed him doing several chin ups when other kids his size and age could barely hold their weight just hanging............and he was ripped

Those spiked co;;ars were invented to prevent the other dogs from grabbing the dog by the neck and killing them........This is just machoism at it's worst ( the collar)
