    Default What's the dealio?

Oskar has been on Comfortis for about a week now and we are still seeing the odd flea on him. I thought it was meant to kill all the little blood sucking creeps!!!

I use a different brand, but it took 2 full doses (2 months) for them to be completely gone from mine.

The issue is the eggs in the carpet usually, as they hatch they jump on the dog and take a while to die. You can flea bomb the house all you wan' but the best way to get rid of them all is to let the dog have free-run of the house to pick up all the fleas... They will be drawn to the dog and be killed by the Comfortis before they can breed.

Oh thankyou for that advice CL, we were thinking of bombing the place, but we have fish, so we decided against it, hopefully this will work, as it is very pricey stuff lol.

I used one of those fly spray cans that have the precision bit that flicks out and went around the skirting boards but that was it. I just let the Advantage do its magic after that.

Yep. Can take a while to break the cycle.

I once moved into a granny flat where a dog had lived. this was before I got pets after separating. The day I moved in the fleas started biting me. I knew that eventually they would all hatch and die, so I just waited, getting bitten every night, there were that many fleas around. Took about two weeks before they were all gone. Never saw another flea there until I brought home a cat and a dog.

Agreed, takes a while to break the cycle. Regardless of the flea free state of my house, the fleas round here tend to bad when the weather is dodgy, like "rain, sun, rain". It's really hard to control them in the yard. We had to block off under our house, because although lovely and cool under then for the dogs, the fleas loved it too.

We used comfortis as well, my boy Duke has flea allergy dermatitis - I find it very effective once its in full swing.

I think we have to take Oskar to the vet, he has some rashes and scabs from where he has been scratching. He gets a bath in Malaseb frequently, plus a soothing shampoo, hope we get him sorted soon.

I use to use advantage and or advocate and it did nothing for my dogs..
I now use Comfortis and they have never ever had a flea on them..
    I swear by the comfortis..
Maybe there are ground fleas elsewhere jumping on him..
But like I said, I swear by it, I was a little skeptical at first
when my vet introduced it to me but then I tried it and BAM
    Loving it..
